 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE October brings a lot of changes to central Iowa. Leaves have begun to turn, harvest is starting and hunting seasons are kicking off. With upcoming hunting seasons we see an increase in usage on the rifle range as hunters check their sights and get some practice time in. Please be respectful of others and remember to follow range rules, including cleaning up when you are done and replacing target stands under the shelters. Speaking of practice for hunting season, we saw a great turnout for the October 4 th sporting clays event. I don’t have the final numbers, but we had well over 70 shooters and the weather was phenomenal. Look for dates to be announced for the spring shoot in the next couple of months. As with all events at the Ikes, these shoots are run entirely by volunteers. Thank you to everyone involved in making this a successful day. On another front, there has been a lot of progress made in removing invasive species on the property. There has also been a lot of work in cleaning up the pond and adding some younger grass carp to help keep it clean. Hopefully we will see more of the results of this when spring arrives. Finally, our Facebook page is getting a refresh and we are exploring other ways to expand our social media presence.
